Generative AI in Education: Innovation, Ethics, and Equity
Workshop: Generative AI in Education: Innovation, Ethics, and Equity
This special session proposes to explore the transformative impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) in education, focusing on innovation, ethics, and equity. Anchored on the overarching goals of the 11th EAI International Conference on Smart Objects and Technologies for Social Good (GOODTECHS 2025), which aims to highlight the role of smart technologies particularly AI for social good, this session invites educators, researchers, professionals, learners, and policymakers to critically examine how GAI can be leveraged ethically and effectively in educational settings. Since its emergence, GAI has rapidly influenced all spheres of modern life. In education, it presents unprecedented opportunities for personalized learning, pedagogical innovation, and efficiency in teaching and learning processes. From generating individualized lesson plans and assessments to facilitating immersive simulations and automating routine tasks, GAI empowers educators to focus on fostering critical thinking, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences. However, the integration of GAI also raises important questions about readiness, ethical use, inclusivity, and policy alignment. This session aims to provide a space for scholarly discussion on how to responsibly adopt and scale GAI in ways that promote lifelong learning and educational equity.
Topics
We invite submissions to this special session that aims to explore the multifaceted roles of Generative AI (GAI) in education. We welcome papers that explore how Generative AI (GAI) is transforming education, organized under these five focused thematic sessions:
1. GAI Readiness in Teaching and Learning
Exploring how prepared teachers and students are to adopt and integrate GAI tools
into educational settings.
2. Ethical and Responsible Use of AI in Education
Focusing on academic integrity, ethical implications, and responsible use of GAI in
classrooms and institutions.
3. Transforming Teaching and Learning Practices
Showcasing innovative uses of GAI to enhance student engagement, personalize
learning, design materials, and diversify instructional methods.
4. Rethinking Assessment and Research
Using GAI to support assessment strategies, academic research, writing, and scholarly
publishing in education.
5. Educational Leadership, Policy, and Quality Assurance
Examining GAI’s role in shaping education policies, improving governance, and
supporting accreditation and quality standards.
