Track description
Due to the high demand of communication everywhere and anytime in the cities and the lack of communication infrastructures in remote regions, in disasters scenarios and deep space scenarios, Device-to-Device (D2D) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication have gained special attention from both academia and industry in the past years. D2D and M2M communication can be defined as direct communication between two or more mobile users in range for direct communication. D2D networks can improve connectivity in dense cellular networks by increasing the spectral efficiency, enabling multi-hop relays, content dissemination, and, as such, offloading data from the cellular network.
This special session attempts to join researchers from both academia and industry focusing on theoretical and practical research contributions. These contributions can be new techniques, analyses, and applied contributions reporting on experiences and experiments attempting networking deployment in challenging scenarios.

PAPER SUBMISSION & PUBLICATION
----------------------------------------------------------------
All presented papers in the conference will be published in the proceedings of the conference. We reserve the right to exclude papers accepted but not presented from the conference proceedings submitted for archiving and indexing.
The authors of the best papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their work through one of the following EAI endorsed publications:
- Ambient Systems
- Pervasive Health and Technology
Accepted papers will be published in the SPNCE Conference Proceedings and by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes of ICST (LNICST). The proceedings will be available both in book form and via the SpringerLink digital library, which is one of the largest digital libraries online and covers a variety of scientific disciplines.
The proceedings are submitted for inclusion to the leading indexing services: Elsevier (EI), Thomson Scientific (ISI), Scopus, Crossref, Google Scholar, DBLP as well as EAI's own EU Digital Library (EUDL).
About EAI - The European Alliance for Innovation is a dynamic eco-system for fostering ICT enabled innovation to improve European competitiveness and to benefit society. Find out more at https://www.eai.eu.
